Noon Player Notes in the Draft (Apr 7)

The Dallas Stars announced this morning that they have recalled forward Jason Dickinson from the AHL to replace Jason Spezza in their lineup, as the number two pivot on the team has fallen ill and is unlikely to play tonight, when the Stars take on the Avalanche.  The Stars are vying for top spot in the Central and home-ice against the Minnesota Wild in the first round, otherwise, they'd have a date against the Blackhawks.

More importantly, Tony will miss out on a skater game tonight, as his 13th place team floats in a safe limbo, 10 points back of 12th and 6 points up on 14th.  Seems like that's a good finishing spot for his team, assuming there is now amazing fall out or comebacks from below.

The New York Rangers are trying to stay as healthy as possible going into the playoffs, but there are a couple players making it tough. Tonight, Dan Girardi will miss out on the game against the Islanders, due to an upper-body injury. He's considered day-to-day and questionable for Saturday's finale against Detroit.

Girardi was a Waiver Draft pick-up in Week Nine and a drop in Week Eighteen for Allan this year, but he does feature on the Playoff Pool sheet this year, down in Box 23.  This is just a heads up, if you're eyeing him up for your pool team.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have officially announced that forward Evgeni Malkin and defenseman Olli Maatta will be at least another two weeks on the shelf, which will sideline the two into the playoffs. Malkin is dealing with an upper-body injury, was scheduled to be out eight weeks, while Maatta is out with a lower-body issue, originally week-to-week.

In the regular season, neither player has any impact on the money, belonging to 27th place Wes and 14th place Clayton, respectively, and in the playoffs, Malkin is the only one of the two that features.  He'll likely be missing out on three or four games in the opening round, which is beginning to look like it will be against the Rangers.
