Shaw Suspended for Game 5
In the age of an ever-looming public presence, mixed with the political correctness, there is absolutely no room for letting your emotions get the better of your judgement, trying to use language that would be used to offend a specific segment of people for the purposes of verbally abusing an opponent.
Andrew Shaw, known to be a feisty competitor for the Chicago Blackhawks, fell prey to his own emotional state and the result of that was the source of much outrage among the general public and the specific segment of the viewing/non-viewing public, after his verbal abuse of an opponent from the penalty box was caught on camera and shown to the masses over national television and streaming feeds.
The NHL has acted upon this, by handing Shaw a 1-game suspension for his actions, which means he'll miss Game 5 between the Blackhawks and the Blues, where Chicago is now behind the 8-ball, down 3-1 in the series and will be without one of their more influential players.
Shaw has since apologized for his remarks, both the league and the Blackhawks have distanced themselves from such remarks and if the Blackhawks are eliminated from the playoffs on Thursday night, Shaw's suspension would mean that he was suspended for the rest of the playoffs.
Only two teams in the pool have Shaw on their side, taken from Box 6 of the selection sheet, and in four games in these playoffs, he has 2 goals and 2 assists.
