A report caught this morning suggests that St. Louis Blues rookie Robby Fabbri may be out for the next few days, after suffering a lower-body injury on Tuesday night against the Avalanche. Fabbri has been a blessing for the Blues this season, as he has provided plenty of offense for the team this year, scoring 18 goals and 37 points in 71 games this year. He'll be on the list as out day-to-day, with the expectation that he'll be back in the lineup before the end of the regular season.
Ryan's chances at 3rd place are now starting to fade quickly, as his team has not been able to continue scoring like it did last week. His team will start Friday's action in 8th place, 21 points out of 3rd, only short of a miracle from making it.
The Minnesota Wild suffered another injury in Thursday night's game against the Senators, as Jared Spurgeon was helped off after blocking a Bobby Ryan shot in the 1st period. It didn't look good, seeing him hobble off, so we'll wait and see what the Wild say about this one, hoping that it is more of a bruise than a break. He'll be day-to-day, unless otherwise noted on the blog.
Another injury for Allan's team, which is just coasting to the end of the season. It doesn't seem too likely that his team will fall any further down than 16th, as his team has a 20-point advantage on 17th, but with these injuries stacking up, it also seems unlikely that it'll move up any either.
All of a sudden, the Anaheim Ducks have a bunch of injuries to report on, as we move closer to the end of the year. Frederik Andersen's regular season could be done, since he suffered a concussion in Calgary and protocol will take him to next Wednesday, if not through the end of next week. Hampus Lindholm is now day-to-day with a stomach virus, he won't suit up for the Ducks Friday night, with the Canucks in town. The Ducks will also be missing forward Rickard Rakell, who will miss the next week with appendicitis. Those are three pretty big pieces that won't be in tonight, if not longer, so the Ducks will likely be limping into the playoffs now.
So, that means Benson is without a goalie for the end of the year, Dale B. is without a defenseman tonight and Eric will be missing a forward. There's no real money implications here, just cleaning up some paperwork.
Let's chalk up another injury here, as Travis Hamonic was injured last night in the Islanders/Blue Jackets game, suffering a lower-body injury and the coaching staff are unsure if he is even going to be able to play in the playoffs. Needless to say, his regular season is now over and the rugged defender will have to heal up quickly, if he is going to suit up for a playoff run.
The hits just keep on coming for Wes, who has now lost another body for the rest of the year. His team will be mired in last place in the standings and no PIM money to show for it now. His season has really gone to pot in this third segment.
