Canes' Staal Suffers Concussion

Bad news for the Hurricanes... Jordan Staal has been diagnosed with a concussion.

The upper-body injury that the veteran centre had suffered on Sunday night against the Panthers was that ugly head injury that everyone wants to talk about these days.  The team had no timetable for a return, not exactly saying how bad that the injury is, but if they are not saying it's in the day-to-day variety, then he might be out a little bit longer than the minimum seven days.

On Monday, before action got started in Week Eight, Staal was ranked 221st in pool scoring, already having 5 goals and 9 points in 21 games this season.

Marcin was getting very good production out of his 11th round draft pick, taking him 254th overall, nearly getting a round better than where he was taken.  It probably won't take very long for him to drop below his draft position, if he remains on the shelf.  It's hard to say whether or not there is enough reason for Marcin to drop Staal at this point, unless the Hurricanes don't think they are going to get him back for a while.
