Reinhart Re-Signs in Buffalo

We don't have very many pool worthy restricted free agents left on the list, now that Sam Reinhart has put pen to paper on a 2-year bridge deal with the Sabres on Wednesday morning.  The two sides finally came together to get the 22-year old forward into camp and working out towards the start of the regular season and his new deal will now come with a cap hit of $3.65 million, which should lead to a longer term deal in a year or two.

Reinhart has gotten off to a good start to his NHL career, ranking in and around the top 100 forwards in his first three seasons and his career trend is certainly moving upwards.  Last season, Reinhart finished 96th among all forwards in scoring with 50 points in 82 games and now with the team making some major changes, there are some larger expectations out there for him and the rest of his teammates.

Current projections are now seeing his numbers jump up to around the 65-point mark, as he should rejoin linemate Jack Eichel on the team's top line and it will be interesting to see who lines up with them to form a decent top line.  With the addition of Reinhart now, I have bumped up the projection of Carter Hutton, my current pick for number one in Buffalo, giving him an extra 5 points as well, getting him further into the conversation and maybe improving his pick position by a round or two.
