Noon Player Notes (Mar 27)
Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen was under the weather on Tuesday night and was unable to play against the Ottawa Senators and he is currently listed as out day-to-day. In 75 games played this season, the offensive blueliner has 5 goals and 39 points, which is somewhat down from expectations this season and possibly one of the reasons why the Sabres couldn't keep up the pace with other winning clubs this year.
Jeremy's team had a much better Tuesday night, despite the illness to one of his defenders, as his team is now up with 9 points in the week, through the first couple of nights. His team remains safely in 19th place, no risk of dropping and very little hope of moving up.
After coming into Monday's game against the Maple Leafs in relief, Florida Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo got the night off on Tuesday night, when they took on the Canadiens and was a healthy scratch, since the team is currently carrying three goalies on their roster. James Reimer got the rare start last night instead and the rust got the best of him, giving up three goals on nine shots before getting pulled. It's been a rough time for Florida goalies of late. I would expect Luongo to be back in the net very soon.
Well, it was a rest night for Luongo, so it wasn't a missed start for John P. on Tuesday night. John's goalies rank 11th in the pool in points this season, so he has been getting some decent goaltending production, but it certainly hasn't been enough fro his 17th place team.
It was back to the press box for Vancouver Canucks forward Nikolay Goldobin, as the winger still hasn't found enough consistent play to stay in the lineup of late. Goldobin doesn't have the worst numbers on the team, by any stretch, but it has been the 200-foot game that has been the issue with him, so he sits again.
Disappointing for Scott, who took him in the Waiver Draft, thinking he was top line player for the Canucks, but that quickly went away, as soon as he was selected. Scott has only collected 11 points in 34 games played from him this season, which is a pretty big disappointment, especially since Week Nine.
