There's a lot of good news going around that we're almost at Waiver Draft week in the Draft. Remember, during the week of Week Ten, the Waiver Draft will commence, seeing all teams have the ability to drop their worst players and then pick up someone new. All players picked up will become active for their team in Week Eleven. After the stats are audited on Sunday, November 25, the available player list will be e-mailled to everyone in the Draft and then through the week, we'll have the opportunity to draft. Below this post, the Top 5 players in each position are listed, so have a look for your first drop and pick-up.
It's generally pretty difficult to crown a Player of the Week without having to go through the weekend, but it's awfully close to being possible right now. Evgeni Nabokov (Wes) already has 10 points this week. 3 wins and 2 shutouts this week will do that for you. Also, barely in the contention are: Patrick Marleau (Don) and Martin Erat (Jeff) who both have 6 points. Both players only have 1 game left this week and it'd have to be a doozy to make those honours.
Erik Cole (Ryan) will be missing at least another week as he waits for his neck to reduce it's swelling. All the scans were very positive and it'll just be a matter of time before he feels good enough to go for the Hurricanes.
The Penguins recalled Kristopher Letang (Wes) from the minors. That's some good news for Wes who's already making a big push for the top as we speak, despite not having a couple forwards playing at all.
The Sharks have been suffering through some injuries over the past couple games, but it hasn't been really affecting the team play at all. Milan Michalek (Dieter) has been ailing with an elbow injury, which is considered day-to-day. There's a pretty good chance that he'll be in the line-up on Saturday night. Craig Rivet (Box 10) sat out of last night's game with a leg injury. The coaching staff is pretty hopeful that he'll be good to go Saturday night as well.
Defenseman Paul Martin (Box 17) left the game on Wednesday night with a back injury. Hardly considered in the Selection Sheet pool, shouldn't be considered for a pick-up, especially since the Devils really haven't been too offensive this season thus far.
