Former first round pick in 2000, Brian Sutherby (non-pool) was dealt to Anaheim from Washington on Monday for a second round pick in 2009. Sutherby has only played 5 games for Washington this season and has struggled to find a place with the Capitals in his career will get new life in Anaheim with the Ducks.
Sutherby had his best season in 2005/06 where he collected 14 goals and finished 308th in the Sherpa's pool rankings. The 25 year old winger may find himself in some pretty good company out on the West Coast and may have a better system for him to develop in. Obviously, he had some skill being a first-round draft pick, but Washington didn't seem to give the kid the environment for his skills to flourish. In a second-round pick, the Ducks think highly of him and may give him ample opportunity for a return on their investment.
