Well, the last place Capitals needed to shake things up. Not only for themselves, but for us poolies as well. Glen Hanlon was fired in the last 24 hours and was replaced by the Capitals AHL coach, Bruce Boudreau.
The Capitals are 4 points behind three teams tied at 17 points (Sabres, Kings & Oilers) with no games in hand. They are also 9 points out of a playoff spot, which isn't the worst position to be in at this point of the season, but it'll continually get tougher for all the teams if nothing changes.
The AHL Hershey Bears, the Caps affiliate, are riding a 4-game winning streak, but still have a negative goal differential, which doesn't really give a lot of offensive confidence to the big club. The Caps are going to need a coach that has some offensive plans for the likes of Alexander Ovechkin (Clayton), Alexander Semin (Dale C.), Nicklas Backstrom (Dale C.), Michael Nylander (Chris) and Viktor Kozlov (John B.).
