Sure, the hockey pool is all about the points and so it should be, but let's not forget about the goons! Marcie's band of bullies open the night with a 44-minute lead on Troy's team and there is only three games on the docket. That doesn't mean we're short on goons, as a couple of the games will have 100-minute men this season and the race continues on.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
Between Troy and Marcie, they have five players going in Buffalo tonight, when the Maple Leafs and the Sabres go head-to-head, but out of the four, only one is really considered to be a goon. Troy's Matt Martin is the headline player in this game, as his 106 PIM this season is the best in this game. Troy will also have Sam Reinhart of the Sabres, while Marcie will have her trio of young Leafs going, fishing for minor penalties. Jake Gardiner, Nikita Zaitsev and Connor Brown will try and nickel and dime the defense of the PIM pool title all night long.
The biggest goon on the night belongs to the Ottawa Senators, as Mark Borowiecki will take on Tomas Tatar, both players belonging to Troy, as the Sens are going to try and scratch & claw their way into the playoffs. Borowiecki has been hot of late, in the penalties department, leading all players with 145 minutes in the box.
In the later of the three games, Marcie does have some representation, as she'll have Vincent Trocheck, who has 41 minutes on the season. The Panthers are now resigned to playing out the rest of the schedule, so this one may not have the feel of a playoff match-up or the desperation of a team in need of a spot. This could be a quiet game to close everything out on the night.
