A couple of upper-body injuries were the cause of a couple players not dressing for the New York Islanders on Friday night, as forward Casey Cizikas and defenseman Travis Hamonic were both on the scratch list, prior to the game. No real word on the Cizikas injury, but it is believed to be from a fight against Dale Weise of the Flyers, which may have caused Hamonic's injury.
Also, in the 3rd period of the game between the Islanders and the Devils, John Tavares left the game with a lower-body injury and didn't return. The Islanders are holding their breath now, with still some slight chances of a playoff spot still in sight.
Hamonic was the more important of the three, as he is still in the money race, belonging to Ryan's team. Ryan's team has Mover & Shaker on it at the moment, but still sits 6 points behind the money, with three teams to overcome. Tavares belongs to Stuart's 11th place team and Cizikas is a Playoff Pool nod, as he is on the sheet.
It could be a bit of pre-playoffs resting for Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh, as he was held out, due to an undisclosed injury. The Rangers coaching staff didn't have him play against the Penguins on Friday night, a game they dropped in the process, 4-3 in the shootout, but with playoff spots already determined, it was a good time for a rest of bumps and bruises.
Unfortunately for Wilton, it hasn't been a season for scoring records, as his team sits 24th in the standings, but does sit 4th in the PIM pool, but still too far away to make any noise at this point.
