Ducks Redeem Themselves

The Anaheim Ducks took a pretty good line-up into the Staples Center in Los Angeles and made everyone believe that the Ducks do have potential going into the season, by taking the second half of a preseason home-and-home. The 3-2 win for the Ducks left a good taste in all those Ducks' fans mouths and should make everyone aware that they are not going away, despite the loss of Niedermayer and Selanne from their line-up.

Have you considered Jason King for your pool team yet? King, acquired from the Canucks in the off-season for Ryan Shannon, is a Brian Burke favourite and he's showing everyone why already. King has already picked up a pair of goals and an assist in the first two games of the preseason. King is starting to find his name inching closer and closer to a spot on the starting line-up.

The Ducks got their win from rookie keeper, Gerald Coleman, who relieved Jonas Hillier in the second period and didn't give up a goal in just over 30 minutes of hockey. Now Coleman is fighting for the number three goaltender spot in the organization. Of course, Giguere and Bryzgalov will own the top two spots, but Coleman wants to be the guy who gets called up when there is an injury or a major cold streak. It's probably not a good idea to have Coleman on your Top 60 goaltenders going into the draft.

Kings young goaltender Jonathan Bernier also relieved his counterpart, Jason Labarbera, in the second period, but was the one who gave up the winning goal to Ryan Getzlaf. He did make 16 saves in his time on the ice and will probably get a couple more good looks in preseason games.
