Quiet Thursday Morning

It was back to the press box for Box 12 defenseman, Christian Backman, on Wednesday night, as the Blue Jackets took on the Blackhawks. If you're just joining us this season, Backman has been an off-and-on scratch for the Blue Jackets all year and has been a pretty popular name here in the morning-after bytes. Backman has played in 52 games this season, registering 7 points.

The Stars played in the second half of a back-to-back nights on Wednesday in Calgary and they did it without Mike Modano. Modano was out with a groin injury, but the team believes that the injury is minor and that he can be ready for Saturday afternoon, when the Stars next play a matinee in San Jose.

The Devils were without Box 30 defenseman, Colin White, on Wednesday night against the Hurricanes, as he was suffering with a lower body injury, that he suffered on Tuesday night against the Blackhawks. There still is no word on the severity or the nature of the injury, but he is currently listed as day-to-day for the time being.

Well, it isn't a big news story on the TV networks, but Lightning defenseman, Cory Murphy, has suffered a broken foot and will likely miss the last few weeks of the season. Murphy has been a great pick-up for the Lightning, scoring 5 goals and 10 assists in 25 games, since he was claimed on waivers in January.
