Draft Player News (Dec. 24)

An undisclosed injury, something that has been nagging for a while now, finally kept Bruins forward Rich Peverley out of the line-up on Friday night, giving him an extra day off on his holiday break. Peverley has reportedly missed a number of practices because of this injury, so the team thought it would be wise to not push him into hurting himself any further, especially with an extended break ahead.

I would imagine that Peverley would be probable for the Bruins first game after the break, which is Wednesday in Phoenix.

Peverley has been a pretty good player for Brenda F. this season, scoring 25 points in 30 games, ranking in the top 100 in pool scoring, which has kept Brenda's team in the mix in the draft pool this year.  Her team currently sits in 8th spot, only 19 points out of the money, which would be a couple of good weeks to be back in the conversation.

An ankle injury forced Dallas Stars defenseman Sheldon Souray from the game against the Predators on Friday night and he was unable to return.  Apparently, Souray was injured when another player had inadvertently fell on him, which is certainly a tough way to go.

The extent of the injury was not known at the end of the night, nor was it disclosed on Saturday morning, so I don't think we'll hear much of anything until Monday night, when the Stars travel to St. Louis to take on the Blues after the holiday break.

Souray has been a pretty good pick for Dale C. in the pool this year, picking up 16 points in 34 games, ranking 225th overall in pool scoring, after being taken 245th, which is pretty good bargain.  Dale currently sits in 4th spot, 5 points back of 2nd and 3rd and only 1 point up on 5th, so Souray will be missed, if he is out for any extended period of time.

A bruised hand was enough to keep Flyers forward Daniel Briere out of the line-up for the Winter Classic preview game on Friday night, as the team was in the Big Apple to take on the Rangers.  There was likely a pretty smart move, as the battle that took place on Friday night was a pretty good one and there was no need for Briere to hurt himself any further, not with more important games upcoming, like the actual Winter Classic.

We'll see how Briere is doing on Tuesday, when the Flyers are in Tampa to take on the Lightning, but for now, we'll consider him day-to-day on the list.

This wasn't the best finish to Week Twelve for Brenda F. in the pool, having a couple players miss their last games before the break, but she did have a pretty good week considering.  In Week Twelve, she finished with 24 points, which was above-average, but it wasn't quite good enough to keep her Week Eleven position of 7th, dropping down to 8th after being bested by Benson G..
