Avs' Johnson Given Two Games

A dangerous shove to the back of Tampa Bay's Vladislav Namestnikov has cost Colorado Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson a couple of games, according to the video release posted down below by the NHL Department of Player Safety.  The ruling came down on Sunday night and Johnson will be forced to miss Monday night's game at home to the Penguins and Thursday night's game in Los Angeles.

The veteran blueliner has been a pretty good driving force in the improvement of the Avalanche this season, so he'll leave a pretty sizeable gap in their roster for a couple of games.  In 32 appearances, Johnson has 4 goals and 12 points, good enough for 310th overall in hockey pool scoring.

For Grant's team, this is a minor setback, but I'm sure that he would much rather prefer to have all hands on deck, as his 9th place standing requires improvement before too long.  His team currently sits 6 points back of 8th and 10 points back of 7th, two pretty big hurdles to overcome, before his team starts thinking about the money.
