Barker Out With Groin Injury

In Minnesota's win over the Oilers on Thursday night, Cam Barker suffered a groin injury and it was significant enough to keep the defenseman out of the line-up on Friday night, as the Wild took on the Canucks. Barker is considered to be out day-to-day, but I don't think there is going to be a big rush to get him back in the line-up, letting the injury heal and have their defenseman back to 100%.

In six games this season, Barker has picked up 3 assists, which looks good for the defensive defenseman. His bigger role in Minnesota should make him into a pretty good pick-up for the pool this season, especially if this groin issue isn't too severe.

ImplicationsBarker belongs to the 3rd place tandem of Kristy and Don in the draft, who are currently sitting 8 points out of 1st place at the moment.  Their defense currently ranks in the middle of the standings with only 11 points so far this year and missing Barker likely won't help that at all.

Barker was Kristy and Don's 12th round pick, 237th overall.
