Rafalski Gets Knee Scoped

The Red Wings announced on Tuesday that they will be without defenseman Brian Rafalski for an undetermined amount of time because of a precautionary scope of an ailing knee.  The immediate word is that Rafalski will be out indefinitely, but for arthroscopic surgery, it could be anywhere between 3-to-6 weeks.

In the first two games of the season with Detroit, Rafalski has a pair of assists to his name, which looks good on the veteran defenseman. But with some nagging knee pain, the Red Wings thought they would nip it in the bud before it got any worse and more work needed to be done. They would rather take the time off when the season is still fairly young and the points are not quite as important, deal with the surgery and the rehab, making sure he's primed and ready to go for the stretch run.

ImplicationsThis bit of news continues a rash of terrible luck for Neil, who has had such a good start to the regular season, keeping himself in the top ten in the standings.  Neil continues to sin in 7th spot in the draft standings, but has now lost three players in the matter of 24 hours and not all of the news has been fully determined.
