Fringe Signings (July 10)

The Boston Bruins got off to an okay start on Friday signing defenseman Matt Irwin to a new deal, taking him off the free market.  The Bruins added the defender, giving him a new 1-year, $800,000 deal, adding him to blueline, in need of a little more help, after the departure of Dougie Hamilton to Calgary.  Irwin was ranked as one of the first few defensemen, on the outside looking in of being pool worthy, finishing the 2015 season with 19 points in 53 games.

By the early count, Irwin can count as the 4th defenseman on this roster, which could help boost his numbers, if he can sort out playing an entire season.  That boost could put him firmly in the pool worthy rankings and he could prove to be a good last round add, acting as a sleeper pick.
