Evening Playoff Notes (Apr 26)
Well, this post is much later than I wanted it to be, but that was just the kind of day that I had.
The Maple Leafs were ousted on Wednesday night, losing to the Bruins in an absolutely wild affair, 7-4. That's not to say that the Maple Leafs didn't have their chances, they most certainly did, having leads at 1-0, 2-1 and 4-3, before the collapse in the 3rd period and there was nowhere else to go, but home.
The Bruins' top line was on top of their game, as Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak combined for 3 goals and 4 assists in the win. Tuukka Rask only made 20 saves in the victory, as the Bruins go on to face the Tampa Bay Lightning, starting on Saturday.
A total of 34 selections left the pool, the most popular being Patrick Marleau, who leaves with seven selections to his name. Mitch Marner was the most productive player, among the sheet selections, having 10 points, including a bonus point for a winner.
So, at the end of the first round, Stuart leads all teams with 122 points, but his team is down to 16 players, which will certainly hamper is chances at finishing on top of this pool. Only three sides finished with a perfect 24 players after round one, Tony's 2nd place team (121 points), Thor's 15th place team (96 points) and Chris' 18th place team (92 points). Brenda's 6th place team (113 points) has 23 players, which isn't too shabby either.
It's a good race, so far... now we move onto round two!
