Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Apr 3)

The Carolina Hurricanes, now out of the playoffs, may not push defenseman Justin Faulk too hard in this last week of the season, as he has reportedly been dealing with an upper-body injury of late and now that they are out of the playoffs, he'll likely play when it suits him most.  He's considered to be day-to-day, but with only two games left to go in the regular season, he's questionable, at best to return before then.  It hasn't been a very productive season for Faulk, only 31 points in 76 games, so it wouldn't surprise me, if they shut him down early.

Faulk was likely one of many disappointments in Eric's regular season, as his team just couldn't make its way to the top half of the standings.  His team finished Monday night in 17th, only 4 points back of 16th.

It looks like Dustin Byfuglien was a healthy scratch on Monday night, when the Jets took on the Senators in Ottawa.  Byfuglien was likely given the night off, as we draw closer to the playoffs and the Jets are firmly entrenched in the playoff picture, so there was no harm in resting the hulking defender.  The Jets were able to pull out another win in Ottawa, so the move didn't cost them any extra points in the standings, which was good for the team at the end of the day.

For Wes, his only concern left in the season is the PIM pool title and his team started the week in great shape.  And for anyone looking to pick the Jets in the playoff pool, Byfuglien could be a reasonable option in one of the defenseman boxes.
