On Sunday, the Rangers sent forward Evgeni Grachev down to Hartford of the AHL, leaving the roster with 22 players for opening night. Grachev had a pretty decent preseason, but this move should be considered to be more of a salary cap move, because the team will likely be signing training camp tryout, defenseman Alexei Semenov, to a new deal fairly soon. The Rangers are nice and snug against the cap and the demotion had to be made so the team could have seven defensemen for opening night.A team update will be provided when the signing occurs, but for now, you can have a look at the previous table here.
