The Ducks have gotten a little bit grittier, while the Senators clearance sale is going swimmingly with still 11 days until the trade deadline.

Jarkko Ruutu, a professional pest, has been acquired by Anaheim to give them a little bit more depth in the bottom six and a little bit more grit in their line-up, an attribute that is normally associated with successful Ducks teams.  Since Ruutu is an unrestricted free agent this Summer, he should prove to be a pretty good rental player for a good, low price.

Historically, Ruutu has seen better scoring seasons than the one he is currently in, but the Senators as a whole have not been able to score and that is the main reason why they are down near the bottom of the standings and are currently selling off their veterans for some picks in the Summer.

There really isn't too much more to this deal, but it does look like a pretty good one for Anaheim, who have looked like the strongest team of late, despite losing out on their number one goalie for at least a week.
