Draft Player News (Oct. 25)

On Tuesday night, the Detroit Red Wings are expecting to be without their number one goaltender for their game against the Blue Jackets, as Jimmy Howard and his wife welcomed a new bundle of joy into the world over the weekend. Howard, who may not have been scheduled for this start any way, will be a healthy scratch and the team has recalled Joey MacDonald to back-up Ty Conklin for the evening.

This is not the kind of news that Stacey C. wanted to hear, as his pool team has been climbing the ranks over the past couple of weeks, now sitting in 7th place going into Tuesday's action.  It's only one start that he may or may not be missing out on, so it shouldn't be considered a big deal.

It will be a maintenance day for the Senators' captain, Daniel Alfredsson, who will not be dressing for the club on Tuesday night for their game against the Hurricanes in Carolina.  Alfredsson has been dealing with a number of knocks and nagging pains over the past couple of years, including some in his hip, so if a day off is going to help him play the bulk of the season, it would certainly be more beneficial than missing long stretches at a time.

Again, this is only one game being missed, but when a team like Clayton C.'s is battling for whatever space is left among the top five or six teams, it doesn't help to see a key offensive player sit out for a game.  Nevertheless, it is better than missing long stretches of time, due to injury.
