Draft Player News (Feb. 19)

Rough day for the Carolina Hurricanes, who took a 4-3 loss to the New York Islanders on Saturday afternoon, also may have lost their number one goalie, Cam Ward, to a lower-body injury. Ward had reportedly been dealing with the injury for the last few days, but he was given the start any way. Ward was yanked after the Islanders' third goal of the day and now we must await word as to if the injury will keep him out of the Hurricanes line-up or the worst-case scenario, how long it will keep him out.

The Islanders got a surprise start out of Kevin Poulin on Saturday afternoon against the Hurricanes, since the likely scheduled starter, Evgeni Nabokov, was under the weather and wasn't able to dress for the team.  Poulin made 33 saves in the call-up victory and Nabokov will likely be ready to figure back into the line-up on Monday, when the Senators come to town.

It's pretty rare when a draft team's goaltending duo are the only two players to hit the blog site under the news of the day, but Kristy and Don's tandem are quickly becoming the iceberg that their team is sinking on, by the look of things.  If Ward is out significantly, then Nabokov will have to hold the fort on the Island, neither team are preparing to win many games down the stretch, so at best, the results would have been limited.
