Player Notes in the Playoffs (Apr 22)

It appears that the playoff season is over for Canucks forward Alex Burrows, although that likely won't be made official until after the team is done from the playoffs. The speculative word is that the agitating forward suffered a broken rib and he had to spend some time in a Calgary hospital, missing out on Game 4 of the series and unlikely to play any time soon.  With the Canucks going down 3-1 in the series, it is likely that he won't be missing too many more games, upon their elimination.

Burrows was taken once in the pool, taken by pool newcomer, Whaycon K..  The Canucks were not favoured in the pool selections, so their elimination won't be too devastating to the pool in an overall sense.

Thinking that it was probably an injury, which kept Capitals forward Curtis Glencross out of the lineup in Game 4 of the Washington/Long Island series... it wasn't. It appears that Glencross was a healthy scratch for the game, surprising many, after he was a trade deadline acquisition. Glencross isn't the first among those dealt at the deadline to be a scratch, a la Antoine Vermette in Chicago.  The move did wonders for Vermette, but Glencross' absence didn't hurt the Caps, as they won in overtime on Tuesday night.  It will be interesting to see if he gets back in the lineup on Thursday.

Glencross was taken five times in the pool, but not by a team in the top 10 in the standings.

Tonight's match-ups in the playoff schedule include two elimination games, so we'll start the goalie chatter with those two games and we'll welcome back the 8-ball, which has a brand new look for this season.

It will be Craig Anderson in net, as the Sens start the night behind the 8-ball, down 3-0 to the Montreal Canadiens.  We have yet to see confirmation, but I think it is fair to say that Carey Price will be back in the net for the Canadiens, as he prepares to sweep away his division rivals from down the road.

The Winnipeg Jets also start Wednesday night behind the 8-ball and they'll likely (although unconfirmed) go back to the well with Ondrej Pavelec, as it would seem a little odd to give a young goalie like Michael Hutchinson his first playoff start in an elimination game.  For the Ducks, you have to believe it is Frederik Andersen back in their net tonight.

The Penguins are looking to square up their series with the Rangers tonight at home and it should be the same starters again, Marc-Andre Fleury hosting Henrik Lundqvist.

Minnesota has a chance of putting a pretty big gap between themselves and St. Louis tonight, as the Wild play host to the Blues.  The Wild, up 2-1 in the series, will go with Devan Dubnyk, and it looks like the Blues will stick with non-pool goalie Jake Allen for Game 4.
