Get the hype machine ready! The Maple Leafs and Jets are set to do battle in Winnipeg as one of the early games tonight and this will be Derek's chance to get out of the pool basement, which he saw his team fall into in the first couple days of the week. Jeremy's team is off to a little bit better of a start, but still has fallen down into the bottom half of the standings. It's two really good goalies here, so something good should happen for the pool here somewhere, right?
We're staying in the bottom half of the standings with the other early game tonight, as Dale's team is only 2 points clear of the trio of teams vying for last place in the standings, while a cold streak has seen Chelsea's team draw close to the bottom as well, opening play tonight only 8 points clear. Both pool teams can really use a win and thankfully for both of these pool teams, they get two chances at wins, starting with this game.
Dale's second start comes in Colorado tonight, where his top pick, Tampa's Andrei Vasilevskiy will get the nod against the red-hot Avalanche, who have a goaltender, in Semyon Varlamov, that is doing the job for his offense, which is shooting out the lights. Wilton is riding his goalies pretty hard these days, as they have been his most consistent players in the first few weeks of the season.
For Chelsea's team, her second start will come from the Vancouver Canucks visiting the Vegas Golden Knights in the late game. She'll have Jacob Markstrom trying to regain the number one job for the Canucks, but it's going to be a tough slog in Vegas, where they'll face Marc-Andre Fleury tonight. Troy currently stands as the only team in the top half of the standings getting a start tonight and his team is way up in 3rd place, holding onto a money spot.
