Goalie Announcements (Oct 28)

More early starts on Sunday, as we finish up Week Four with six games on the docket.  We're not very far away from puck drop on Sunday, so let's get to it.

The Basement Dweller nod race seems to hold the most value in the match-ups below, but please remember, some of these goalies haven't been confirmed as of yet, so if you're looking for a start, you may or may not find it here.

Henrik Lundqvist (Scott) versus Jack Campbell (N/A)
Bad news for the Los Angeles Kings, as they placed Jonathan Quick back on the Injured Reserve on Sunday, recalling Peter Budaj to back-up Jack Campbell this afternoon in the early game.  We're waiting to hear more news on that, but it looks like Henrik Lundqvist, the assumed starter, will get the Kings' number two as his opponent today.

Scott's team hasn't had much action from the crease this week and his team has suffered for it, currently only 2 points clear of the Basement Dweller at the start of play today.

Ben Bishop (Clayton) versus Jimmy Howard (Tony)
The Dallas Stars have confirmed that Ben Bishop will be the starter this afternoon in Detroit, playing against the Red Wings.  The Wings, however, haven't said one way or the other, at the time of publishing, who they'll go with.  Clayton's team is 6 points back of the Mover & Shaker this week, so this start could be far from what it needs to climb up to the top before the end of play, while Tony's team, assuming he gets the start, has had a decent week, but not quite in that race today.

Thomas Greiss (Stuart) versus Petr Mrazek (Stacey C.)
Another game, where only one goalie has been confirmed and we're left to speculate about the other.  Stuart knows he'll have Thomas Greiss going for the Islanders today, while the early start does throw a wrench into normal goalie planning, but Petr Mrazek did just come off a win on Friday night and had a night off, so I would bet that they would be more than willing to go back to him today, giving Stacey a start.  Stacey could really use this win today too, as his team starts 2 points back of the Mover & Shaker, which is a tightly contested race today.  Stuart's team... not so much.

Cam Talbot (Mike) versus Cam Ward (Scott)
The Blackhawks played last night, so that's a pretty good indicator that they will go to the goalie that didn't play last night, so we're safely assuming that Cam Ward will give Scott his second start of the day, a much-needed pair of starts, to say the least.  Mike, on the other hand, has a confirmed start coming from Cam Talbot and this start couldn't come too soon, 1 point clear of the Basement Dweller at the start of play.

Craig Anderson (Mike) versus Marc-Andre Fleury (Troy)
The Basement Dweller game of the night goes in Vegas, as the Senators visit the Golden Knights.  Mike starts the day only 1 point ahead of Troy in this race and he gets his second start from Craig Anderson today, while Marc-Andre Fleury has been tapped by Vegas to go tonight.  Troy's team has taken a good kicking in the standings this week and he could really use a big game from the Golden Knights to get his team back on track.

Martin Jones (Brenda & Seward) versus John Gibson (Kristy & Don)
It's pool duo action in the late game in Anaheim, where the Ducks will be celebrating another night of their anniversary with some more retro jerseys in warm-ups.  They're all pretty sharp, if you ask me.  It's a tale of two duos in the early part of this season, but they're both not having great weeks in Week Four, Brenda & Seward only 4 points better than Kristy & Don at the start of play today.  Both sides are hoping for just a little bit more, so they can start fresh in the week with some new optimism.

Neither goalie was confirmed, but neither team played last night, so it should be safe to assume.
