Of course, we all knew why this series was going to be special, the battle between Alex Ovechkin and Sidney Crosby. Needless to say, these two did not disappoint in Game 2. Both of the superstars came away with hat-tricks in Game 2, but in the end, it was Alex's three that came through for his team when they needed it.
Ovechkin led all players in pool points on the evening, as he did eventually score the game-winner for the Capitals, giving him a 4-point night altogether. Crosby finished with only the 3 points he scored with his goals, while Viktor Kozlov and Sergei Fedorov each recorded a pair of assists. Those would be your best pool players on the night.
There was even more bad news for the Penguins, as Kristopher Letang was forced to leave Game 2 with an upper body injury, which looked as though it could have been a serious shoulder injury. There has been no indication of what the actual nature of the injury is or how long Letang will be out of the line-up. This injury could not have come at a worse time for the 20 teams who selected Letang in the pool, as he was having such a good playoff run thus far.
