Avs Sign McLeod

The Avalanche announced the signing of forward, Cody McLeod, on Friday night. McLeod signed a 3-year deal, which comes with an overall cap hit of $1.033 million per season. McLeod played his first full season with the Avalanche last season, scoring 15 goals and picking up 162 PIM, which could be considered his best two fantasy statistics. McLeod played in 79 games, finishing with 20 points, just to give you an idea of what kind of player he is.

McLeod may be working his way forward in the NHL at a reasonbly slow pace, but with 15 goals under his belt in 2009, you may want to hide him in one of your deep lists, just in case it comes down to that. Let's not forget the PIM, if you get them in your pool, as he can rack up a good number of them, at least a minor penalty per game.

The salary cap hit that McLeod gives now sets the bar for the Avalanche at $44.6 million (approx.) for 14 regular players, which is a pretty high total, especially without a goaltender in the mix.
