The Ducks make the first splash in the trade market, as they dealt Chris Pronger to the Flyers, now that Scott Niedermayer has agreed to come back to the NHL, without guarantee to the Ducks. Pronger, a massive cap hit, will have to be slotted into the Flyers system somehow, and with the new cap number announced, there isn't going to be much room for Pronger going forward. The Ducks did well for what they picked up in return, as they picked up a solid top six forward in Joffrey Lupul and a potential top four defender in Luca Sbisa.

The Ducks managed to make some good strides with this good deal, opening up some cap space by moving Pronger out and only taking on a portion of what went out. Pronger is a top level defender, but the Flyers have looked to have taken on too much cap space and we should be expecting another deal or two when it's all said and done this summer.
