The Blues announced that they have re-signed Keith Tkachuk to a 1-year, $2.15 million deal on Friday, bringing the veteran back for an 18th NHL season. Tkachuk expressed interest in playing another season in St. Louis and the Blues were happy to accommodate him going forward. Last season, Tkachuk finished 133rd in pool scoring with 25 goals & 24 assists in 79 GP, which should be considered a really good year. At age 37, he certainly isn't quite over the hill just yet and he could still be an effective fantasy player next season.

This now brings the St. Louis salary cap total to $46.4 million (approx.) with 17 guys under contract. With much of their young talent already signed on, they should be in pretty good shape for the 2010 season, including a good shot at another playoff spot. This team is a very young and exciting team to watch and they will have some veteran leadership again from Tkachuk. Look for some breakout years in your fantasy pools here.
