The Panthers were quick to announce the signing of their
same-day acquisition,
Steve Reinprecht, to a new 3-year deal on Friday. Reinprecht was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, but with the trade to Florida, they had all intentions on signing him right away. There were no financial terms released with the signing announcement, but with his cap hit of $2 million last season, you would have to assume that it would have to be something similar, since he didn't knock the socks off of anyone offensively.

The Panthers certainly have some talent on their team and they are building a reputable team and with any deal that sees
Jay Bouwmeester head out of town, they should be able to improve the team further right away. Reinprecht may give the team a little more veteran leadership and could be a good fit for
Cory Stillman. The overall effect of this signing (and the deal before it) is rather positive and should mean better things for Florida in 2010.
