It sounds like Cam Ward will be sitting out for tonight's game against the Washington Capitals, as he is reportedly out with a lower-body injury, related to some soreness. There was no indication about the severity of the injury, but it will be enough for him not to dress as the back-up to Anton Khudobin. The reports don't suggest that the injury is serious, just that Ward required an extra day off to relieve some soreness. He'll be listed as day-to-day.
This appears to be a missed start for Troy, who is comfortably in the mix for the money, sitting in 7th place after Wednesday night, only 13 points out of 3rd place.
With 11 games on the NHL schedule, I thought I would have a look at the goalies, since I haven't done it in a little while. It looks like it's worth a look, since there are some surprises out there already.
Goalie starts of note from the hockey pool are as follows... with the news that Cam Ward is out for the Hurricanes, Anton Khudobin gets one more start for Ryan, before getting dropped next week. Eddie Lack will also get one more start for the Canucks, under the pool name of Stuart's team tonight.
Semyon Varlamov will return to the Avalanche net tonight against the Flames, meaning that Benson will have both of his goalies healthy, although, it looks like Kari Lehtonen will make way to recent call-up, Jussi Rynnas.
Most of the projected goalies have been posted for Thursday night and it looks like 16 of 23 pool teams will have at least one keeper starting tonight, while three teams will have both of their goalies going and there is one goalie starting, who was picked this week and isn't active until Monday.
Those teams with two goalies going tonight - Dale B., Wilton and Stuart.
