This one comes a bit more from the fringe, but New York Rangers forward Jesper Fast underwent successful hip surgery and his current timetable for a return is in the range of five months.
Fast, a restricted free agent this summer, played in 68 games last season with the Rangers, scoring 6 goals and 21 points, ranking him 259th among all forwards in scoring, a fair ways from the top 200, but who know what those other 14 games would have given him as well.
His current timetable will likely mean that he'll be out until November, meaning he'll miss the first month of the season and not really be worth picking up in the draft right away, he'll be more of a mid-season swap kind of guy.
