Morning Player Notes (Feb 3)

Minnesota Wild newcomer Pontus Aberg was hurt in Friday night's game against the Dallas Stars, suffering a lower-body injury, and the team turned around and went back home to play the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday, a game that Aberg could not participate in.  The team is saying that this is a day-to-day injury, but that's about all they are saying at the moment.  There's no indication about a timeline or a severity of the injury.

Scott's luck has carried over into the players that are not even active for his team, as he selected Aberg in the 2nd round of the Waiver Draft last week.  Since he is hurt right now and we still have some time left in the Waiver Draft, Scott could use a bonus round move to drop him for someone else.

The Ottawa Senators are hush-hush on an undisclosed injury for forward Mikkel Boedker, which held him out of  Saturday's game against the Detroit Red Wings.  With very little to talk about, we're kind of at a loss for what to report here.  Boedker is currently listed as out day-to-day and the Senators don't play again until Wednesday, so there is quite a bit of time to get himself right again, but without any news, he could be ruled out of that game just as easy.

More Waiver Draft bad luck, as Chelsea took Boedker in the Waiver Draft this past week and she may not get a chance to see him play right away.  Boedker is eligible to be dropped in the bonus round today, if necessary, but there isn't a whole lot out there to snap up.

No surprises here, as Joakim Ryan was a healthy scratch again for the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night, but he did have a pretty good run of games with a couple of key injuries to the Sharks' blueline.  The return of Marc-Edouard Vlasic was the tipping point of Ryan's inclusion in the lineup, so back to the press box he went and there's a good chance he'll be staying there, barring any more injuries.

It was one last healthy scratch on the books for Eric's team, who did drop Ryan in this week's Waiver Draft.  Unofficially today, Ryan will finish with 5 assists in 34 games played for Eric's side this season.

A lower-body injury has sidelined Tampa Bay's Brayden Point, forcing him out of Saturday night's contest against the Rangers.  There was no indication of when the injury had occurred, but the scoring forward was unable dress for the warm-up and was eventually ruled out completely, shortly before puck drop on the game.  He's listed as out day-to-day for right now and the Lightning don't play again until Tuesday, so we'll hopefully get more info by then.

Even after missing Saturday's game, Point currently ranks 8th in hockey pool scoring with 65 points in 51 games, giving Stuart two of the pool's top 10 scorers.  That could be a big reason why his team is in 1st place again this season.
