There looks to be some great news on the horizon in Denver. The Avalanche may have their top scorers back in the line-up by week's end. Both Ryan Smyth (Dennis) and Paul Statsny (Wes) took part in full contact practice on Monday and both are listed as questionable for tonight's match-up versus the re-tooled Ducks. Joe Sakic (Dennis), recovering from hernia surgery, also was on the ice on Monday, but refrained from full contact practice, is looking more like an end of the week restart to his season.
This could be some unwanted news to the race at the end of the Draft. Dennis will be getting two of his top players back, which could result in some separation from those who he has competed with over the past 8 weeks or so. Having both Sakic and Smyth back before the end of the week will bring him back into mediocrity, since he didn't drop them in the last Waiver Draft. It will almost be like getting four players activated, instead of just two.
