Vandermeer Traded Again

As we all patiently wait for the fireworks of the trade deadline to go off, Flyers GM Paul Holmgren has decided to put on a little bit of an opening act over the past couple days, making a pair of deals. After acquiring a defenseman yesterday, he dealt one that he acquired earlier in the season away. The Flyers sent Jim Vandermeer (non-pool) to Calgary for a third round pick in 2009.

Vandermeer has 15 points (3G, 12A) in 54 games this season, which doesn't necessarily make him a big threat offensively, but he should be a pretty solid addition to a blueline that has seen a few scratches of late. His numbers actually have him slotted into the fourth blueliner spot, so he should see some quality minutes with the Flames, which is good for him, since he's already averaging over 19 minutes a game.
