Leafs and Panthers Swap Again

In a late deal, the Leafs sent Chad Kilger (non-pool) to the Panthers for a 3rd round pick in 2008. This is the second deal that the Leafs and Panthers did amongst each other and both of them involved a non-core player out of Toronto and a moderate draft pick.

2008 3rd Round Pick

The Panthers get a little bit grittier with this move, which doesn't necessarily improve the team. It will likely be the Entry Draft before we see any major changes to the Panther team that won't likely make the playoffs this year, despite their additions.

The Leafs have done well to get picks out of Tuesday, plus dispensing of some cap room for next year. Still, it may not be enough and the Entry Draft could be the telling sign for that team as well.
