Avalanche of Changes

The Avalanche are now ready to take on the season and the difficult Northwest Division with their now-current 23-man roster. There not a lot of surprises on the roster, but there still are a few new faces that you will be seeing on the team. Darcy Tucker is going to add some grit and some presence in front of the opposition net this season and with an offensive line-up, his point production could go up this year.

One of the bigger questions for me will be, 'when is the goaltending controversy going to start?' Peter Budaj and Andrew Raycroft could very well be duking it out at some point this year, which could very well downgrade both goalies numbers. Right now, it looks like Budaj is going to take the reins of the crease to start, but when there is a cold patch, how will Raycroft fare?

This line-up will cost the Avalanche $51.3 million, which leaves them plenty of room to accomodate Peter Forsberg, when he's good and ready to return to action... if that ever happens.

A growing concern about taking Avalanche players for your fantasy team is the injury bug. Over recent memory, I seem to recall quite a few injuries to most of the top players in Denver, which does seem to be more of a coincidence than anything else. Buyer beware though... that coincidence has a habit of being a pattern.
