Knee Injury Sidelines DiPietro

Speaking of franchise goalkeepers, the New York Islanders are now without theirs for the long-term. The Islanders received news that the injury that has been plaguing Rick DiPietro, has now required arthroscopic surgery on... that's right, his knee. The oft-injured keeper will now miss upwards of six weeks of action, which could be a big deal, especially since Yann Danis, in his first appearance of the season, was part of the collapse that saw the Canadiens pull out a come from behind win on Saturday night.

DiPietro, a sixth round pick of Benson's in the Draft, has now only appeared in a few games this season, failing to register a point.

Missing six weeks will see DiPietro miss upwards of 20 starts, or the possibility of 20 starts. This certainly hurts his fantasy value for the year and it is recommended that you do drop him, if and when you get the chance. With other excellent goalies on the Sheet pool, I don't think anyone made the mistake of taking DiPietro, but in keeper leagues, drafts, or online pools, you may want to sit/drop him as soon as possible.
