Goalie Announcements (Dec 5)
Grant got his wish, he got a win out of his backup on Monday night, so he can just sit back and relax for the rest of the week, knowing full well that he won't have to worry again until next week.
This now leaves three teams left to find their wins and there are games that could offer an opportunity to each of these teams, maybe even two... possibly not even one. Let's see how it all shakes out, shall we?
Cory Schneider (Jeremy) versus Sergei Bobrovsky (Derek B.)
Jeremy gets his one shot at a win tonight and it will be a pretty tough test, as he sees Cory Schneider and the Devils head into Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets. This game will be a contest for top spot in the Metropolitan Division, so it's very believable that Sergei Bobrovsky will be getting the nod at the other end.
Connor Hellebuyck (Neil) versus Jimmy Howard (Dale C.)
Mike's only shot at a start tonight would be in Detroit, but his Red Wings goalie isn't the number one there, rather he'll be occupying the spot on the bench reserved for the backup. Instead, Dale C. will get a start against the high-flying Jets, as it will be Jimmy Howard hosting Connor Hellebuyck. Neil's team is looking to rebound after a tough first segment of the season and it really starts now with a Jets start and he'll have to start by closing the 30-point gap between his and Dale's team.
Thomas Greiss (Dale B.) versus Andrei Vasilevskiy (Wilton)
Wilton has two possible starts tonight and one was confirmed nice and early for one of the early games on tonight's schedule. The Tampa Bay Lightning have been winning a lot of games, which has vaulted Andrei Vasilevskiy to the top spot in pool scoring, suggesting that he'll be the favourite in tonight's contest against the Islanders. At the other side, we're expecting to see Thomas Greiss, with Jaroslav Halak getting the call last night.
John Gibson (Tony) versus Malcolm Subban (Wilton)
In the late game, we're expecting to see the match-up between John Gibson and Malcolm Subban in Vegas, when the Ducks visit the Golden Knights. If Vasilevskiy is going to be the assumed favourite in the earlier game, this game almost doesn't seem necessary, but you just never know, right? Subban could give his first shot at getting Wilton his win for the week, if he needs it. It's just worth noting, since the Islanders are playing pretty well of late and could sneak a win out of Tampa, making this game necessary.
