Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Dec 7)
The lower-body injury that has been hampering Jaromir Jagr this season has reared its ugly head once again, as it kept the Hall of Famer out of the lineup on Wednesday night in Toronto. The injury is only thought to be a day-to-day issue, but it has already cost him a significant amount of time and it may keep him from more time down the stretch here. Jagr has only appeared in 17 games for the Flames this season, scoring 1 goal and 7 points in the process, ranking 431st in pool scoring after Wednesday night.
Ryan took him with his last pick in the draft and opted to keep him around through the Waiver Draft and now he's on the shelf again. Ryan's team could really use a boost here this week, as his team is currently tied for the Basement Dweller nod with Tony's team at 4 points through three nights worth of action, dropping a position in the standings in the process, down to 17th.
Lineup news from the Islanders morning skate on Thursday suggests that they will be without defenseman Johnny Boychuk tonight for their game against the Penguins in Pittsburgh. Boychuk is getting a night off to deal with what has been said to be a lingering injury, although there wasn't much in the way of details about the injury. He'll be considered day-to-day for the time being.
Brenda & Seward are not exactly having a good week in the pool either, sitting at only 5 points and remaining in 18th spot, so far. The loss of Boychuk certainly stings, but with only 8 points in 26 games played, he hasn't been the biggest contributor this year.
