Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Dec 15)

An upper-body injury, suffered in Chicago's game against the Panthers on Tuesday, forced defenseman Jan Rutta out of action for Thursday night's game in Winnipeg.  The 27-year old free agent signing in the summer has been pretty good for the Blackhawks, as a cheap option on their blueline, playing in 31 games so far this year, scoring 3 goals and 13 points.  He's currently listed as out day-to-day for right now, but there hasn't been much in the way of updates since the injury.  We shall wait and see what the Blackhawks say for the weekend.

Grant jumped on Rutta's production in the Waiver Draft a couple of weeks ago and has only claimed 1 point, since he has been activated.  There is no indication that the injury is significant at all, so he should be back before too long, one would assume.  Grant's team opens up Friday night in 9th place, 17 points from the money.

Another injury from Tuesday night, bled into Thursday night's action and possibly beyond, as Taylor Hall of the Devils, suffered a knee contusion after a knee-on-knee collision against the Kings.  Hall wasn't able to skate on Wednesday and didn't dress for Thursday's game against the Canadiens and remains doubtful for tonight's game, at home against the Stars.  It appears that he's still listed as day-to-day and with the weekend off, it should give him some time to heal up, hoping that Monday's game would be his return.

Stuart's team is only 5 points out of the money and Hall has been good, so far this season, scoring 31 points in 30 games in New Jersey.  Of course, with that kind of production, if Hall does end up missing some significant time, Stuart's team is going to drop like a stone, especially with how competitive it is at the top.
