Avalanche Lose Landeskog

The Colorado Avalanche sit 4 points out of the last wild card spot in the Western Conference, still holding onto some hope for a last minute push in, but they will now be doing so without their captain, Gabriel Landeskog, who suffered a significant upper-body injury on Thursday night against the Dallas Stars and he will now be out of the lineup for the next 4-to-6 weeks.

Landeskog was last seen colliding with Dallas goaltender Ben Bishop behind the Stars net, which looked somewhat harmless, until you saw Bishop pull away and then the struggle was real.

The timetable, on the low end, may see Landeskog back for the season finale, possibly before, if the Avalanche are still within spitting distance of the playoffs, but I wouldn't put any guarantees on it.

He has been very good this season, ranking 28th in hockey pool scoring after Friday night's action, with 33 goals and 69 points in 68 games.  He'd be considered a very high 2nd round pick, if we were to do a draft redo today.

This will also seriously hurt Jesse's last ditch hopes of making that money pitch in the last month of the regular season.  Landeskog is one of his top three forwards this season and has been one of the reasons his team has boosted up from 16th to 5th since Week Thirteen.  Jesse's team cut down the gap to 31 points, between his team and 3rd place, but it'll be hard pressed to maintain that or even close it up going forward.
