Edmonton Signs Two

The Edmonton Oilers made a couple of depth signings on Tuesday afternoon, including re-upping a roster player to a new deal.  Jean-Francois Jacques picked up a new 1-year deal worth $615,000, putting him back on the team table for another season, and Shawn Belle, an unrestricted free agent after not being qualified in Montreal, also signed a 1-year deal worth $600,000.

Jacques played in 49 games with the Oilers, which qualifies for me as a roster player in the coming year, scoring 4 goals and 7 assists in those games, ranking him 351st among forwards, which is way too deep for most fantasy pools.  I wouldn't be looking at him this year at all.

Belle appeared in 2 games for the Canadiens in 2010 as a minor-league call-up, not registering a point.  I would be expecting him to be at Oilers camp this year, possibly getting a shot, if some of the youth doesn't live up to the hype, but I would say his chances of making it are pretty slim.
