O'Brien Accepts Qualifying Offer

The Canucks have re-signed gritty defenseman Shane O'Brien to his qualifying offer of 1-year, $1.6 million on Tuesday. This signing now brings the Canucks totals up to nine defensemen on one-way deals, which probably will mean that there will eithre be some qualified depth in the minors or a move to clear out one of these defenders.

O'Brien ranks 8th in scoring among the nine defensemen, with 8 points in 65 games with the Canucks, 175th among all defensemen. His general role is to be more of a physical defenseman, not so much of a fantasy pool asset.
