Injury Updates (Sep 25)

As a precautionary measure, the Nashville Predators will be resting Viktor Stalberg for their final two preseason games.  Stalberg suffered an upper-body injury in the 1st period against the Lightning and did not return.  Early speculation says that it is a shoulder injury, but the team will not specify as to how serious the injury is at the moment.

This is the first injury on the board for the duo, Kristy & Don, who took Stalberg with their last pick, 316th overall.  The duo will await the reports of how severe the injury is before they consider using the waiver to replace him with someone healthier.

Word out of Islanders camp is that power forward Kyle Okposo is currently day-to-day with an eye injury, which he suffered on Saturday against the Devils.

Details are fairly limited at the moment, but he wasn't at practice on Wednesday and the injury is now listed as the reason why.  Okposo is currently listed as out day-to-day, giving more opportunity to other players at camp, but we'll monitor this injury, leading up to opening night.

Wilton drafted Okposo fairly early in the draft on Saturday, picking him in the 6th round, 129th overall.  Wilton is already having a tough go early on, losing Vokoun to the blood clot and if Okposo is on the shelf, he could be busy with the preseason waivers.

The Flyers lost the services of Jakub Voracek last night, after being taken down on a breakaway, against the Devils in preseason action.  Voracek earned a penalty shot on the play, managed to take the shot (he didn't score) and then left the game, not to return.  The initial word is that the injury is not serious and that is all that management would say.

Voracek was taken 58th overall (3rd round) in Saturday's draft by Grant, who already has Derek Stepan on the shelf without a contract.

Reports surfaced on Wednesday morning that Winnipeg Jets defenseman Zach Bogosian was not at practice and there was some hints that he was injured on Monday against the Oilers. There was no definitive injury to report, nor was there any timeframe given.  Just another player to keep an eye on before the Jets' opener on Tuesday night.

Bogosian was taken 159th overall (7th round) by Stacey C., as his first defenseman taken in the draft.  We'll wait for more information before we make any brash predictions of how this will affect Stacey's team.
