Recent Contract Extensions (Jul 10)

The Tampa Bay Lightning didn't waste much time, getting their premier forward locked up for the long-term, as Nikita Kucherov agreed to a new 8-year contract extension Tuesday morning, said to be worth $76 million in total, a $9.5 million cap hit per season.

Kucherov has been one of the more dynamic forwards in the last couple of seasons, posting 85 points in 2017 and then 100 points in 2018, really guiding the way for the Lightning, from a pure offensive perspective.  He has emerged as an elite player, not only posting those production levels, but carrying them on the next season.

The Lightning have situated themselves quite well through the 2019 season and into the 2020 season, still leaving a bit of room to move for when they look at new contracts for both Brayden Point and Yanni Gourde in the next year or so.
