A huge hit to the Islanders early section of the season, as newly-acquired forward Cal Clutterbuck has been sidelined officially for the next 4-to-6 weeks with a leg laceration, which he suffered in a preseason game against the Flames this week.
With the regular season only about 10 days away, this could mean Clutterbuck will miss about a month's worth of action when it counts and that isn't the sort of player that you want to be picking at the hockey pool draft. Thankfully, he will return in good time to get his legs underneath him for the first waiver draft and there he could be a force for a bottom-feeding team.
Of course, Clutterbuck's projection has dropped due to this injury. Even though he's only slated to miss a month, I can't see him picking up more than 20 points this year, unless he finds some awesome chemistry somewhere in that line-up.
