An update was provided for Rich Peverley's heart blip from yesterday. The Dallas Stars are now expecting him to miss the next three weeks after a procedure to correct his irregularity.
Management and the coaching staff feel that Peverley will be ready for the team's opening game, which goes on Thursday, October 3rd, home to the Florida Panthers. Peverley will likely get rested up for that game and may skate in between, so we'll see how that goes.
I don't think I'll adjust his numbers at this point, as I thought that the new surroundings and all the new faces in Dallas may limit his scoring to some smaller numbers this year.
Looking for some sleeper blueline help this year? Well, you may have been eyeing up Nathan Beaulieu, but it should be noted that he suffered a shoulder injury and I think he would be considered day-to-day right now, but the secrecy of training camp, much like the playoffs, likely won't show any hands going into opening night.
Granted, the Canadiens have all kinds of veteran depth at the defenseman position, so it was going to be a long shot for Beaulieu to crack the line-up, unless he came up huge in training camp. I would think that a shoulder injury would do enough to keep that from happening.
There are lots of goings on surrounding one of the New Jersey Devils acquisitions in the Summer, Jaromir Jagr, as he left the first set of workouts early, due to some body soreness. It was announced on Friday morning, that Jagr wouldn't take part in today's scrimmage at camp.
Jagr, 41, will likely be taking it easy during training camp, regardless, given his age and how he likely already has a spot lined up for the coming year. The coaching staff doesn't appear to be too concerned with this at the moment, but this could be the sort of thing that could shave a few points from his projections going forward.
And that's all from me this weekend... only 8 days until the draft!
